How many times have we stayed at home on a Monday evening and leafed through the last pages of a newspaper in search of a good film to see at the movie theater or on television. Or looking at the evening schedule on Internet or even to scrutinize our DVD collection or that of our parents or our roommates waiting for a film that attracts our attention. How many times in the past have we gone into a video store to look for a first run or an old classic and it was often so comforting to remember a film recommended to us by a friend. Often the opinion of a trusted person is more reliable and in the long run much more effective than a review with an important signature. This is precisely the intent of my blog: to provide a sort of diary of films told in a non-academic way, which has little to do with the work of the canonical film critic. The aim of this page is to be an exciting adventure inside the cinema, lived through the eyes of a lover in love or a dreamy traveller. Directly communicate the sensations we all experience in front of films, of any kind. Fun, anxiety, surprise, happiness, melancholy: in a nutshell, the reasons why it is worth watching a film, even if there is a football match on TV or university exams would make us study all the day.
The 400 Movies was born in April 2023 and it's the English version of the Italian blog Una Vita da Cinefilo (unavitadacinefilo.com), one of the oldest Italian cineblogs ever (being born in 2008). The name of this space is, of course, a hommage to the wonderful movie The 400 Blows (François Truffaut, 1959).
